Undo fixing of broken dependencies and updates
Try to remove, boot into recovery mode and execute this:
apt-get remove --purge screen
(You won't need sudo since you're in recovery mode). … Then, you can try to install screen again, and paste here what exactly is the output of the error when you try a normal install like this:

Make sure you have not another instance of apt, apt-get or aptitude running in the background:
ps aux | grep -e apt -e dpkg | grep -v grep
If this command return some process, like in this example where … Then, run the upgrade again:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade …

If you're connected trough SSH, connection has to be working both ways, the problem is somewhere else. You should edit your post including exactly what error you get when you run your command.

You added apt-get in a way that doesn't ask you for a password, but that doesn't mean apt-get would have enough privileges to run. … Try to use an alias:

Can't install apps using sudo apt-get install: unable to lock the administration directory
Your computer may've crashed while apt, apt-get or aptitude was doing some updates and so it left the lock file in the disk. … Try this:
sudo mv /var/lib/dpkg/lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock_backup
Then try to install apache again:
sudo apt-get install apache2
If everything works fine, just delete the backup file:
sudo rm -vf / …

Install a package manager without package manager
Not sure if you want to use it in a graphic environment, but you could try this:
sudo apt-get install aptitude synaptic
Aptitude works in a terminal, either trough commands or with an ncurses environment … If what you mean is that you even lack off apt-get, which is weird... You'll need to download the corresponding .deb packages from the web for your architecture and install em with dpkg or gdebi. …

Remove the ppa from your sources:
sudo rm -vf /etc/apt/sources.list.d/nameoftheppa.list
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get … upgrade
Of course, you'll need to find out what is the "nameoftheppa" to delete it, you can find them all under /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ and open them for reading:
nautilus /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ …
