Icon problem solved but connection issue remains. Example: Twitter is not working but fast.com is working. Commented Sep 5, 2022 at 9:54
I had same issue. Googled for answer and found that if you edit /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf
and insert the line
dns=default
to the [main]
section and the question mark over the lan icon disappears.

1Adding the line to the [main] section worked for me. Commented Dec 10, 2018 at 13:56

I followed this instruction and it seemed to fix it, but after a reboot, all internet connectivity was gone until I reverted this and rebooted again.– ShibumiCommented Jan 18, 2019 at 15:33
