I use Deja-dup to backup et restore on my computer. I would like to set an automatic history of the last 10 times my computer made a backup or restore. Is there a way to program a little script (with python maybe?!?) to build an automatic script backup_history.txt?

  • So you want to get info about the last 10 backup and restore events? – wjandrea Dec 10 '17 at 23:12
  • Yes, in a single script. – J.Doe Dec 10 '17 at 23:16
  • It looks like Deja-Dup doesn't support any sort of history itself, but you could maybe set up something to watch the backup folder and log when it changes. If files are modified, you know a backup was made. If files are accessed but not modified, that may indicate a restore. – wjandrea Dec 11 '17 at 4:45
  • Actually, forget monitoring the folder, you could monitor the dconf keys in org.gnome.DejaDup at last-backup and last-restore. (I checked on 14.04. They might be elsewhere on 17.10.) – wjandrea Dec 11 '17 at 4:50
  • Could you make a full answer and an example of what it looks like in code? – J.Doe Dec 11 '17 at 6:01
