I am installing OpenMS compatible libraries in Ubuntu 17.10 using the following:

sudo apt-get install build-essential cmake autoconf patch libtool automake
sudo apt-get install qt4-default libqtwebkit-dev
sudo apt-get install libeigen3-dev libwildmagic-dev \
    libxerces-c-dev libboost-all-dev libsvn-dev libgsl-dev libbz2-dev
    # use from contrib for compatibility: SEQAN ; COINOR; ZLIB ; WILDMAGIC

it works to a point but eventually it fails due to the following:

59.3 MB of additional disk space will be used.

Err:2 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/universe amd64 libpango1.0-0 amd64 1.40.12-1

and more.

Is there a specific set of instructions to install this packages for Ubuntu 17.10?

  • It looks like you have a network connectivity issue. Are you going through a transparent proxy or something? – dobey Nov 2 '17 at 20:05
  • What's the output of traceroute us.archive.ubuntu.com? – David Foerster Nov 16 '17 at 17:47
  • I have installed ubuntu 17.04 - 64 bit in VM workstation player 14 - 64 bit. SO I am not running 17.10 any more because it is not compatble with OpenMS. I have followed the steps in the documentation to install all the dependencies for OpenMS. I have run sudo apt-get upgrade and sudo apty-get update. The following are all the commands in the OpenMS – G.Cefalu Nov 16 '17 at 23:30
