UPD: I rebooted the system and apparently it worked, I have not yet find and issue but any advice will still be seriously considered.

I have received a notification that update for my system is available, after reading the release news I decided to give it a try and after downloading all of the necessary files the window apparently freezed, I am afraid that if I restart the system I might not be able to see it in workable conditions, as the last processes that it is freezed on in my limited experience are responsible for system load. Please advice how to debug the system.

It can take a long time. I would first wait for a long time, the system will probably recover. – Katu Oct 24 '17 at 9:17

@Katu can you please define 'long'? here is my hardware specs, paste.debian.net/992503 - I did not see the RAM info but it is 8gb. – Aleksas Tunikas Oct 24 '17 at 9:26

No I can't. It's a judgement call that you will need to do. – Katu Oct 24 '17 at 9:33

@Katu I have used to work with computer systems for a big part of my life, if I didn't be sure that it is freezed I would not ask this question and bother to put all the energy to formulate it, I am certain that it is freezed. Any advice of how to debug the issue will be much appreciated. – Aleksas Tunikas Oct 24 '17 at 9:39
