I have installed Ubuntu 14.04 in a Virtualbox with Window 10.

My laptop is an Asus R701 i7 with 16GB RAM. I have installed Hadoop in the Virtualbox. When I'm running commands via Putty it is responding very slow. I have allotted 2GB of the RAM to the VM.

Can anyone please let me know what is causing this issue and what would be the solution for this?

Enable 2 CPU's in VB and it should work much better. Report back. – heynnema Aug 19 '17 at 18:10

  • 2 GB is fine....maybe the problem is the HDD used space? How much did you assign/used? – lewis4u Aug 19 '17 at 18:19

It depends on what apps you're going to run, and how large the data sets are. 2G is a good place to start. Have you tried 2 CPU's yet? – heynnema Aug 19 '17 at 18:19
  • yes i have tried with 2 CPUs but didnot get anticipated results. what could be the other solutions for this issue. – Dev Aug 20 '17 at 3:51
