I want to transfer files onto an SD card, but when I put it in my TravelMate's slot, it doesn't show up in the file explorer. When I type sudo fdisk -l, I only get information about /dev/sda*, so I know it's not even mounting. I believe the SD card's format is FAT32, and I'm running 16.04.

EDIT:

lspci -nn has this output with and without the SD card in:

  • Probably your card reader is not supported.

  • I'm not using a reader. I just stuck the thing in the SD card slot. Aug 16, 2017 at 22:06

So it is a built-in reader. Edit your question and add output of lspci -nn; lsusb terminal command.
