try remove squid with confs:

sudo apt purge squid

and after that install again:

sudo apt install squid
0

doesn't work for me. All I get is

sudo apt-get install squid Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done squid is already the newest version (3.5.12-1ubuntu7.8). 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 43 not upgraded. 1 not fully installed or removed. I've tried re-installing, removing, purging, and everything returns an error.
