If pre-installed Windows 8, then system is UEFI. Did you install Ubuntu in UEFI boot mode? And can you boot use f12 to choose Ubuntu entry? help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI Also make sure Windows fast start up is off, before booting into Ubuntu. Post the link to the Create BootInfo summary report. Is part of Boot-Repair: help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Info – oldfred Apr 17 '17 at 16:23

You should check, what works in BIOS-settings of your machine:

Reboot your machine and press key 'F2' (or key 'F12'?). Then you are in settings of BIOS. Check there the booting-order in menu of "boot". There you can put your hard-disk at first place in first line.

Then exit and save settings. Reboot and good luck.

When Windows is still booting first, you should edit the grub entries. This is explained here and duplicate of this link here:

How do I change the GRUB boot order?
