I've been searching for this almost a week. I've tried like a thousand tutorials. I wanted to ask if it is possible to install Unity 3D 5.6 on ubuntu 14.04 through wine? Before you answer, I've tried to install it using a .deb file but it tells me that I don't have enough storage. I'm using an Asus c300 chromebook with ubuntu 14.04 installed through crouton. I've installed a previous version of unity and worked fine but the one that I need is 5.6. The last tutorial I followed was about how to install it through PlayOnLinux and it was going okay until a fatal error showed up telling me that Virtual C++ Runtime wasn't installed and then continued the installantion of Unity. When I start it up it showed me an error that wine crashed. I used wine 1.7.40. The tutorial is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzJ502f3K-c. It's a bit old. Can you please help me!

Thanks!

EDIT: I did a powerwash and reinstalled ubuntu. Now I am using 16.04 & Gnome desktop. I've tried again to install it through a .deb file and crashed. I also tried out shell scripts that are hosted on unity's website. No luck. Can somebody tell me how to install Unity 3D through POL?

  • If you get a message saying you don't have enough storage, why will it be different installing it with Wine? – M. Becerra Apr 8 '17 at 7:47

I tried to install the .deb file through terminal and not using the Gdebi Package Installer and it didn't crash. Everything worked just fine! Thanks for your answers anyway :)
