I have absolutely no idea what I have done. I was trying to figure out how to get Ubuntu off my computer and Windows 7 back on. I bought this laptop from goodwill and they install Ubuntu on all of them.

I have tried to get used to it but once I realized I couldn't install the Sims 3 I just couldn't take it anymore. So me being an idiot, I started fiddling around with all this stuff. Now fsck /dev/sda1 gives me a long message and I see I cannot upload photos. I have no experience with this so you might as well think of me as your kinda hip grandma who knows a little but still can't manage on her own.

  • 1. Do you want help to repair Ubuntu or to install Windows? 2. Can you get hands on help (from a friend, relative, colleague)? 3. Can you get help from someone at 'goodwill', from where you bought the computer? 4. Is there a Windows licence (a sticker somewhere on the computer or have you got a Windows DVD disk)? 5. Is there some kind of backup of your personal files (documents, pictures, etc)? – sudodus Feb 16 '17 at 5:41
  • BTW, Sims 3 can be installed (with Wine) and works fine: appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=16664 – user589808 Feb 16 '17 at 6:02
  • Well, I would like to either repair Ubuntu or install Windows. I do have a sticker with the product code, but no disk and when I put in the code to get the virtual disk, it says to contact Asus as it is a pre-installed code?!? Goodwill hasn't written me back and none of my family members know anything about computers. Friends? What are those?!? And since I JUST got the laptop, I don't have any important stuff that I need to back up. Also, I had fiddled with wine to install Sims 3, but Origin kept giving me an error message that I needed windows 7 or higher. – Keahna Feb 16 '17 at 15:14
  • Well now it has started fine. ??? My word. I would like to get some help on how to get windows back though. I'm not fit for Ubuntu :( – Keahna Feb 16 '17 at 16:25
