Earlier I booted that pendrive with ubuntu 16.04 and then tried to reformat it but ubuntu gave error and I referred to this answer. After running that command this problem occurred.

  • Are you saying that you tried to reformat your boot media (USB Stick) while the system was booted from it?

  • Yes. @user535733 Feb 4, 2017 at 14:21
  • Did you unmount the USB stick before running dd? Did you remount it afterward? What does dmesg say about the current status of the USB stick?

  • Did you wipe the first 64 kiB? Now there is a disk label (dos), but no partitions on the pendrive /dev/sdb. If you use a tool to create partitions you will probably succeed. In linux you can use for example gparted or mkusb or Disks to do it.

  • Thanks @sudodus . I created partition by using gparted and now it detects pendrive. Feb 4, 2017 at 15:45
