I have a problem while installing the AMD Graphics Driver. I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and my graphics card is an AMD Radeon HD 8770. I was trying to install the official driver but it isn't working. I reinstalled Ubuntu 3 times and tried to install the driver in many ways. I tried to install this official driver ( http : //support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Linux+x86_64 ), but it's not working, because it supports only Ubuntu 15.04. I tried install driver by choosing install options "Install Driver 8.98 on X.Org 6.9 or later" and "Generate Distribution Specific Driver Package". I also tried Oibaf's drivers (http://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers) ,but I don't know I installed it well and amdgpu-pro ( http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Radeon-GPU-PRO-Linux-Beta-Driver%E2%80%93Release-Notes.aspx ). I installed amdgpu-pro, because supported cards has similar drivers.

How should I install this driver?

  • Welcome to Ask Ubuntu! ;-) you could start by telling us exactly which command you've tried already so we don't propose the ones that aren't working again... ;-) – Fabby Jan 25 '17 at 9:05

  • Please edit your question to provide that valuable information there instead of here in the comments where it might be overlooked by the next one reading your question! ;-) I can't help you any further... – Fabby Jan 25 '17 at 9:41
