I recently had a security update and when I re-booted, it has rendered the fglrx driver useless. It is still there on my additional drivers list. However every time is select it and apply changes it just reverts back to the xorg driver.

I have dual screens, but on screen display settings both screens show up as 1 off built in screen.

I have had a search and tried removing and reinstalling the fglrx drivers. I have also tried installing the radeon open source driver instead but it would not install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I want to understand what is going on instead of just reinstalling Ubuntu again.
