I was looking for a way to install OpenOffice on my UBUNTU 14.04. Could you please give me a step by step process as i am very new to opensource world and still dont know anything about terms such as PPA and etc. All i know is sudo apt-get command that i am using for basic installations and update! When it comes to " change directory" or "PPA" or such, I will be stuck.

Any help is very appreciated.

  • Don't use the PPA, it's obsolete, download the .deb file from openoffice.org like it says in the first answer. – karel Nov 24 '16 at 15:10
  • I downloaded deb file but i cant change the directore. I type: cd/home/lida/linux app/openoffice/en-US/DEBS but it says no such file or directory! – Lida Nov 24 '16 at 15:40

No, LibreOffice is more compatible with Microsoft formats. It supports more Microsoft formats than OpenOffice does. – karel Nov 24 '16 at 16:06
