I have a dual graphics output set up; 1 amd card (product: Cedar [Radeon HD 5000/6000/7350/8350 Series]) connecting via hdmi to monitor 1 intel integrated graphics (product: 4th Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller) connecting via hdmi to monitor

Since the update to ubuntu 16.04 the i3 connection is never made; xrandr just shows "HDMI1 disconnected" which I assume is the i3.

Display works fine prior to ubuntu booting, same issue remains if I disconnect the AMD hdmi.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Wait, so you're trying to directly output the Integrated graphics to the monitor? Why not just use the AMD card? – negusp Sep 24 '16 at 12:48
  • Require a second graphics port for multiset configuration. – Phlunk3 Sep 24 '16 at 18:55
  • Wouldn't it be more effective to simply use an HDMI splitter with the AMD card? A single AMD card driving multiple monitors is more effective than driving a monitor with the IGP and the other with the Radeon. In addition, not using the Intel 4400 decreases CPU temps as you don't the silicon as much. – negusp Sep 24 '16 at 22:02
