With the cp command I can copy files in folders, but is there any way to actually copy folders into other folders, for instance when running:

cp Pictures/ Videos/Pictures/

I get the following error outputted:

cp: omitting directory ‘Pictures/’

So how exactly do I copy a folder into another folder in Terminal? I am running Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 with GNOME 3.18.

    You got to use -r or --recursive cp -r Pictures/ Videos/Pictures/ Possible dublicate askubuntu.com/questions/35779/… – efthialex Apr 22 '16 at 10:44

  • Ah, thought it would be a duplicate, just couldn't find it! I will probably leave this question here though as a pointer. – user364819 Apr 22 '16 at 10:46
