Can i download ubuntu apps without software centre

windows platform supports .exe files setup. Which extension does ubuntu supports

Yes you can install apps without the software center; This is done by going to the terminal and typing

 sudo apt-get install appname

Of course you would change "appname" with the program or app you wish to install.

You can use sudo apt-get install [applicationname] or, if you are looking for a graphical way to install applications, you can learn how to use synaptic, which you can install from the software center. Synaptic is a little more difficult to use, but it still presents a graphical way, and it shouldn't be too hard to learn.
