Dual Boot Ubuntu 14.04 very slow Wifi

Question

I have HP pavillion-g6 laptop and I've installed Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS with Windows 7 dual boot. The WiFi connection is very slow. I've made test on speedtest.net and got 0.20 MB but the expected is 5-7 MB. Also the WiFi works perfect on Windows 7

I'm no expert, but you might need to install a 3rd party driver for your wireless card. The easiest way to do that is to go to Settings > Software & Updates > Additional Drivers and check if there is a wireless driver listed which you can enable.

Otherwise you may need to download the driver manually, in which case the documentation that comes with the driver may list troubleshooting information.

To find the name of your wireless card, open up a terminal and run:

sudo lshw -C
