  • Do you have a swap partition? What is its size? What is your RAM size? – Pilot6 Jul 9 '15 at 17:08
  • If your swap size is greater that your RAM size, give output of sudo blkid; cat /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume – Pilot6 Jul 9 '15 at 17:12

Your problem is in not matching UUID. You probably re-created your swap partition after install. You can fix it by running

sudo tee /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume <<< "RESUME=UUID=de8544b3-7bca-4ff1-9a1c-755bcc6da7b4"
sudo update-initramfs -u -k all

and reboot.

To enable hibernation in shutdown menu you can use this answer.

  • yes I did recreated swap partition after install, thanks – Edward Torvalds Jul 9 '15 at 17:32

Aren't Ubuntu supposed to use systemd now? Or is this part of the stuff they haven't ported yet? – AlMehdi Jul 9 '15 at 18:05
