I just bought a laptop with 256gb ssd and I want to install Ubuntu on it. I already have Ubuntu on my PC but I really don't know if there is a difference between installing Ubuntu on SDD or HDD. Do I need some special partition or something? I really don't remember the steps that I took to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my PC because it was 2 years ago. And now I want 14.04 on my laptop for the same reason. Stability.

My question is. Are there some special informations about installing Ubuntu 14.04 on SSD or it is just like on HDD? I read about how to optimize the SSD but first I need to install Ubuntu.

Thank you

Also my PC is this:

Laptop Asus F550JK-DM152D
Intel® Core™ i7-4710HQ 2.50GHz
Haswell™
15.6"
Full HD
12GB
240GB SSD
DVD-RW
nVidia GTX 850M 4GB
Free DOS
Black

Will there be any problems with Ubuntu on this laptop? Not on performace but on compatibility. Thank you.

Just install it just as on a normal "HDD". If you want to you can optimize the SSD but it's NOT necessary (as long as you are not an enthusiast, I would leave it as it is).

Here is a installation guide (in case you need one): http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/install-ubuntu-desktop
