When I skip forward or backward while playing movies the audio goes off while the video still plays. How do I solve it?

  • What do you mean "goes off"? Does it just stop playing the sound while the video continues? – David Foerster Feb 25 '15 at 16:00
  • Yes. And also it is very random. Some skips lead to no sound while after skipping a few times there is sound again. – salil87 Feb 25 '15 at 16:34
  • Do other video players exhibit the same problem? Also, I suppose you use PulseAudio as audio back-end for VLC Player. – David Foerster Feb 25 '15 at 17:10
  • The Default player for Ubuntu does not show this problem. Yes I use PulseAudio. – salil87 Feb 25 '15 at 17:42
  • In that case, please supply the output of pactl list sinks, and pactl list sink-inputs (once with VLC playing a video with working sound, once after breaking sound through skipping). – David Foerster Feb 25 '15 at 18:20

Try to disable and then allow audio track in Audio -> Audio Track.
