This question already has an answer here:

I basically want to increase the DPI or raise the resolution past what is officially supported on my computer. I have good vision and can easily deal with 25% smaller icons and text, and I want more to fit on my display. Does anyone know how I could do this?

  • you can scale your output, but you can't go beyond the resolution of your monitor – Jakke Jul 12 '14 at 21:01
  • and how do I scale the output? – sbergeron Jul 12 '14 at 21:07
  • sorry but that does not answer my question, it shows how to find optimal scaling, and how to change it in UNITY. I have kubuntu, and use kde as my primary desktop, so that really doesn't work for me – sbergeron Jul 13 '14 at 13:29
  • I'm not sure how much this helps, but you can change the icon sizes in Dolphin by using the slider in the lower-left corner. – hal7df Jul 13 '14 at 20:19
  • Try this: Dolphin > Control > View Modes > Icon Size - that should change the size of the icons in Dolphin. – hal7df Jul 13 '14 at 20:22
