  • Chromebook's are ARM, aren't they? Sublime doesn't run on ARM.. – mreq May 26 '14 at 8:47
  • So which one should i use . – Anurag-Sharma May 26 '14 at 9:19

You can't run sublime as it's not build for ARM processors - see sublimetext.userecho.com/topic/…. – mreq May 26 '14 at 12:07
  • @mreq - your's is the correct answer - please answer it and then Anurag can & should mark this as the correct answer. There is very little point in having the current answer marked as accepted when it is very clearly wrong. – fossfreedom May 30 '14 at 8:08
  • There are many chromebooks now which are not ARM. I bought a chromebook this week and almost all the ones I saw are using intel Celeron processors. I can't speak to you samsung chromebook specifically, but the response that chromebooks are ARM and can't run sublime is too general. Many can run sublime now. – user137717 Aug 12 '15 at 17:02

You can't run sublime as it's not build for ARM processors.

ARM builds are wanted, but not available.

  • intel has gained a significant majority market share in chromebooks as of august 2015. I doubt OP still uses his chromebook from 2013, but people who bought chromebooks more recently should check and see if their chromebook is intel before seeking alternatives to sublime – user137717 Aug 12 '15 at 17:26

I found this way to solve this problem:

cd /var/lib/dpkg
mv info info.bak
mkdir info

Then install again.

Just do these steps below and it should get you the app.

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/sublime-text-2
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install sublime-text
  • i tried this but i got an error. Here is my log - paste.ubuntu.com/7518639 – Anurag-Sharma May 26 '14 at 4:57
  • I installed on mine and it is working well and good :) – EdmDroid May 26 '14 at 6:14
  • On chromebook ?? but how. anyways could please suggest some other alternative to it. – Anurag-Sharma May 26 '14 at 9:19
  • Sorry, I did not know if chromebooks were arm. As for alternatives, you may try geany, gedit, vim, nano. I hope you've tried gedit, it's good on its own. I have written many c programs with it. – answerSeeker May 26 '14 at 17:08
