I've tried all the suggestions I've been able to find, but I'm still getting the error msg.

The thing I think is different about my case is that none of the files indicated by the details of the msg. can be found in Settings -----> Other Software.

I've tried posting the details of the error msg., but I don't rank the privilege.

Any suggestions?

Post the details in pastebin.com and give us the link. Better would be to open a terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) and issue these commands one by one sudo apt-get update & sudo apt-get dist-upgrade . Then post back full results(pastebin) – NickTux Oct 22 '13 at 22:26
  • Tried posting the terminal output as you've suggested and it's way too long. – Jorge Oct 22 '13 at 23:38
  • I can tell you that it's the same result as launching the Update Manager and checking for updates. Here's a couple of the offending files: W:Failed to fetch packages.medibuntu.org/dists/precise/Release.gpg Something wicked happened resolving 'packages.medibuntu.org:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname) , W:Failed to fetch packages.medibuntu.org/dists/precise/free/binary-i386/Packages Something wicked happened resolving 'packages.medibuntu.org:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname) – Jorge Oct 22 '13 at 23:46
  • Is marking as duplicate an easy way to not bother? – Jorge Oct 24 '13 at 0:16
  • Marking as duplicate is an easy way for you to spot the correct answer. Also Why are some questions marked as duplicate? – NickTux Oct 24 '13 at 1:49
