Wired network stopped working after I switched from Gnome to KDE Plasma and back. I got it working on Gnome earlier, switched to KDE and didn't use wired for some time, today I switched back to Gnome and it doesn't work.

  • All looks good. Let's have some more: grep r8169 /etc/modprobe.d/* and sudo dmesg | grep r8169 and lspci -knn | grep Eth -A3.

You have r8169 module blacklisted.

Run

sudo apt purge r8168-dkms
sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/r8168-dkms.conf
sudo modprobe r8169

There may be errors when you run first commands depending on what is really installed, but if the 3rd is OK, network should start working.
