I've properly (or probably not) set up openvpn on my linux client machine. Both the server and the client can see each other.

My problem is that none of the traffic, browser for example, is going through the openvpn client. I'm new to this on linux platform but I reckon since on windows once you turn on the vpn both tcp and udp going through the vpn (transport layer) no question asked, the same should be the case for linux, I could be wrong.

My question is going to need to be answered in a rather comprehensive way, but it is going to be specific:

What are the list of steps I can go through to make sure the openvpn is configured correctly?

For example with commands like ifconfig, ip route etc?
