I'm having this problem where I can't open any video inside ubuntu. To be honest I have no clue about where to look for a solution. But I'm pasting down here the info given by vlc when trying to open a video.

  • Welcome to Ubuntu SE! Have you tried another video viewer (e.g. ffmpeg, Gnome Videos)? Also, please, check askubuntu.com/q/22608/835198 to make sure you installed the restricted codecs package(s). – Mario Mar 4 at 6:51
