I have Samba Server running on a PC with Ubuntu 20.04, everything worked fine until yesterday. Today (I believe just after some software update) if I simply make copy and paste operations to the shared folder as destination, then remote machines see corrupted folder content, in particular I see all the original file names, but they are marked as folders and are not accessible(for example, from a Windows machine, files are shown as folders with a red cross on them). Instead, folders, subfolders and files are perfectly visible and accessible from local machine where they are stored.

  • After various attempts, I discovered that Samba is not responsible for this issue, it seems all related to the standard Ubuntu File Manager, infact I just installed xfe and the problem disappeared. – michele cecchettini Nov 28 '20 at 9:26
