After updating ubuntu 16 to ubuntu 20.04.1 the wired connection keeps disconnecting randomly.

The solution is manually turn off and on the connection from the upper left button. However, I am working remotely and that is not an option anymore.

I have tried solutions like this but they do not work for me.

This is the output of some commands that I think they might be useful when the connection is not working:

ifconfig:

EDIT

I set managed=false in /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf and reboot. This is the output of some commands when the connection is working:

cat /etc/network/interfaces:

iface lo inet loopback

sudo lshw -C network:

EDIT

These are the captures of the wired settings:

EDIT

This is the output of ls -al /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/Wired*:

  • You're not getting an IPv4 address. /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf should have "managed=false". Then reboot. And "Wired Connection 1" indicates that there must be a "Wired Connection". Connect to that one, edit settings if required, and delete "Wired Connection 1". Edit your question and show me cat /etc/network/interfaces and sudo lshw -C network. Start comments to me with @heynnema or I'll miss them.

  • Thanks for the info... however... as you can see, when placed into the comments, they're unreadable. Please delete the 3 comments, do the commands again, and edit the output into your original question. Thanks. Let me know when you've done it. Remember to start comments to me with @heynnema

  • @heynnema Hi, you are totally right. I do not know how to remove "Wired connection 1", I can only see one wired connection in settings. Thanks
