This is what I get when I run a simple program.

bash: python: command not found
[Finished in 0.0s with exit code 127]
[shell_cmd: python -u "/home/hector/.config/sublime-text-3/Packages/User/print("IAN").py"]
[dir: /home/hector/.config/sublime-text-3/Packages/User]
[path: /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/games:/snap/bin]

  • python refers to Python 2 and on newer releases such as 18.04 and 20.04, it isn't installed by default because it's dead. I assume you want to run a Python 3 code. So, I'll suggest to either define a new build system or install python-is-python3 package (python-is-python3 is available only on 20.04 as of now). – Kulfy Jul 9 '20 at 16:23
  • @Kulfy I have installed the package and now this is what I'am getting. 'python3: can't open file '/home/hector/.config/sublime-text-3/Packages/User/print(IAN).py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory [Finished in 0.3s with exit code 2] [shell_cmd: python3 -OO -u "/home/hector/.config/sublime-text-3/Packages/User/print("IAN").py"] [dir: /home/hector/.config/sublime-text-3/Packages/User] [path: /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/games:/snap/bin]' – NOOB Jul 11 '20 at 5:34
  • From the error message it seems the problem exists because of filename. Try avoiding using special characters such as " in filename. – Kulfy Jul 11 '20 at 11:46
  • Thanks man . That helped a lot. – NOOB Jul 11 '20 at 14:59
