I'm new to Linux, just installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on my laptop. I tried the solution in TP-link TL-WN725N driver for 18.04 version, it didn't work for my adapter.

Here is the output of lsusb:

  • Thanks Jeremy31 and user535733. I don't know why it says TP-link TL-WN725N printed on my wifi adaptor, but shows Ralink MT7601U with lsusb command.

  • Hi user535733, I tried the solution in your suggested question: askubuntu.com/questions/1205254/…, but stuck at step 8, and get this output: qiong@qiong-Inspiron-1320:~/Downloads/mt7601u$ sudo su root@qiong-Inspiron-1320:/home/qiong/Downloads/mt7601u# rmmod mt7601u (can output "module not loaded". if yes, ignore it and continue) bash: syntax error near unexpected token `(' root@qiong-Inspiron-1320:/home/qiong/Downloads/mt7601u# insmod ./mt7601u.ko insmod: ERROR: could not insert module ./mt7601u.ko: File exists

  • As you can see in your edit above, the module mt7601u is already loaded and exists in the default kernel. Compiling an older driver version won't likely help anything.
