I have multiple logical drives in my server. I want to perform ubuntu bionic installation on a particular drive using volumeidentifier. Is it possible to perform this?

I found this in "Restrictions of a partition to a particular disk or device" in the below ubuntu kickstart documentation.

https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/installation-guide/powerpc/ch04s05.html

Does this mean selection of disk is not possible using kickstart? If yes, how can someone perform this kind of installation. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

  • "If yes, how can someone perform this kind of installation?" is a weird question. If it is not possible it is not possible. Another thing: kickstart is obsolete. Please use preseed. Though you will run into the same problem: "You must (re)partition an entire disk or use available free space on a disk; it is not possible to use existing partitions." when using preseed. – Rinzwind Feb 27 at 9:26
