I have many Wavpack .WV files and use Cantata 2.33 (more) and MPD 0.20.18-1build1 to play them but unfortunately i hear nothing. Installing Wavpack 5.1.0 - 2 Ubuntu1. 4 package and rebooting computer didn't solve the problem. I installed Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS and let it update every time I receive notifications about updates I think MPD got installed during Cantata installation about which I found an article online about different music players. I asked this question on another forum and was suggested to run sudo apt - get update sudo apt - get install mpd According to the official MPD web site Wavpack is supported natively so do not know what could be the problem and unfortunately I can't install newer version of MPD since no package is available, you have to compile it yourself but I'm not a programmer or software developer so any help would be much appreciated

To start with, 1) please double check what you have, The official MPD page shows there's no version 20.18 . What version do you have, and 2) what did you do to install it? Please provide every step used. , 3) Which version of Linux have you installed (Ubuntu server, Ubuntu desktop, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, et al.) , and which release number? 4) Are you using virtualization, and if so, which package? Please click edit and add that vital information to your question. Please do not use Add Comment. – K7AAY Feb 14 at 23:49

On a side note, Wavpack is a lossless compression format. It would be wise considering conversion to FLAC, which is also lossless and much more widely supported. – vanadium Feb 15 at 10:45
