So with the latest (L)ubuntu version my desktop environment frequently crashes (as it seems), witnessed by me getting dumped back to the (graphical) login screen.

How can I find out what caused this?

The /var/log/Xorg.0.log file describes the X.org startup after the dump, while the previous file (/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old according to the file date) does not mention anything connected to the crash (last event is pluggin in a mouse several minutes before the crash).

Running "dmesg" yields:

as the only events in the temporal vicinity of the "drop-to-login", where the last line seems to come from the X.org server reboot.

If I get it correctly, lxqt-globalkeys or the file manager (pcmanfm-qt) crashing should not lead to a drop to the login screen.
