I have a Dell Inspiron 3793 laptop installed as a dual boot with Windows 10 and Ubuntu 19.10. I am trying to connect to a bluetooth device but my laptop does not see any bluetooth devices despite the setting for bluetooth being switched on.

I searched the dell support pages for a driver but no luck. Any advice on getting bluetooth working under ubuntu? Thanks.

Please edit your question and add output of lspci -knn | grep Net -A3; lsusb terminal command. – Pilot6 Dec 20 '19 at 16:44

Step 1: Press Ctrl Alt T to open terminal and type

bluetoothctl

Step 2: Then enter:

power on
agent on
default-agent
scan on

Now make sure that your device is in pairing mode. It should be discovered shortly. For example,

[NEW] Device 45:3D:43:6D:03:26 QCY QY19

shows a device that calls itself "QCY QY19" and has MAC address 45:3D:43:6D:03:26.

Step 4: We will now use that MAC address to initiate the pairing

pair 45:3D:43:6D:03:26

Step 5: After pairing, you also need to explicitly connect the device

connect 45:3D:43:6D:03:26
