I recently installed Lubuntu and I applied some updates from the software center (went from 19.04 to 19.10)

App search used to work without any problems. However, I don't know what I did that caused app search to not work.

Whenever I search for something (eg Synaptic Package Manager), the result I get is "Accessories" and a black icon next to it.

If I click on it, it runs SPM, but still I don't like not seeing results showing normally on app search.

I am a newbie so I don't know if it is called app search.

Thank you in advance.

PS: I installed gnome-tweaks, because I couldn't find Alt+Shift shortcut to change language

  • Lubuntu 19.04 & 19.10 use LXQt as the desktop, Qt as found in KDE, and not GTK+ as found in gnome. I wouldn't use gnome-tweaks to make adjustments, I'd see if I could find what you need in the Lubuntu manual (manual.lubuntu.me/stable maybe chapter 3.2 preferences). gnome-tweaks will change some values that can be changed in LXQt.Appearance.Configuration (ie. have effect on GTK+ or gnome programs), but some options could also have strange side effects (I don't know)) and isn't the tested & supported way. LXQt is not GNOME sharing nothing with gnome. – guiverc Oct 23 at 12:41
  • Thank you for your reply. The manual was pretty helpful. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fix this. My solution was rather silly. I installed Ubuntu instead. I only installed Lubuntu recently, so I hope my decision was right. – ksardas Oct 23 at 19:00
