I have a Thinkpad 13 and I just updated by Ubuntu 19.04. Now it is unable to recognise HDMI output. I don't know what information to provide but would happily do so.

I did try switching between 'lightdm' and 'gdm' as display managers, but that did not change anything. Please help.

Here is the output requested. My PCI buses (lspci) are

I stopped here because it says my HDMI port is disabled. I assume this is my problem? How would I enable it? If you have the patience, the more detail about what I'm reading and doing the better, I'd love to learn enough so I don't have to always post here.

  • Give much more details: relevant output of lspci, lscpu, hwinfo and relevant part of /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Show your /etc/xorg.conf if you got one. Edit it otherwise. Try to disable (temporarily) Xorg and start it using startx. Why do you need HDMI input? It usually is more an output ! What does xrandr says ? and xdpyinfo Aug 12, 2019 at 13:59
  • @BasileStarynkevitch I meant output. I added some of the output until I saw something that caught my attention. I have to go read about what xorg and the log / configuration file is, so I'll upload those momentarily if this isn't enough. Thank you. Aug 12, 2019 at 15:58
  • I still don't understand what you mean by "HDMI not recognized". What hardware screen is plugged into your HDMI connector? Aug 12, 2019 at 19:16
  • @BasileStarynkevitch I have a LG monitor. The Model No. is 20MK400H. On Friday when I plugged that monitor into my laptop is would automatically show up as a dual screen and after I had an automatic update, the monitor does not register that I have connected my laptop to it. It still registers if I plug another computer to that monitor though. Aug 12, 2019 at 21:54
