This question already has an answer here:

I am trying to install cuda-9 on ubuntu 18.04 but cuda-9 does not support gcc later than 6. If I do "sudo apt install gcc-6" or any lower version it says, unable to locate gcc-6. Can somebody help me with this.

  • what is wrong with askubuntu.com/questions/1028830/how "-do-i-install-cuda-on-ubuntu-18-04 ? Seems pretty thorough. "udo apt install gcc-6" where did you get that from? That is not the name of the package. – Rinzwind Aug 5 at 9:12
  • But sudo apt install is not installing anything below 6 or even 6. – Muhammad Fahid Aug 5 at 9:16
  • You should provide your command & error messages as from what I can see (packages.ubuntu.com/…) it looks like your command is the issue. – guiverc Aug 5 at 9:18
