First of all, i am not asking this question as soon as i noticed this issue. But the thing is i purchased this asus tuf fx504 3 months ago and it was all working with genuine windows. On 2nd day i installed ubuntu 19.04(development branch) and noticed this issue. I know this hardware is new, even there was issues with touchpad also and also sensors not detect acpi fan. So, i waited for newer kernel for better driver support.
I saw r8169 related files under driver>net>ethernet in mainline kernel so i fresh installed ubuntu 19.04 LTS and updated kernel to 5.2.0-050200rc7.
What changed ?
- Previously there was not ethernet (Wired) option in setting/network but after updating kernel i got that option.
- Then i got connecting status as shown in this picture -> connecting status under notification panel
- After sometimes when it fails to connect showing this alert box -> Activation of network connection failed which goes for infinite loop.
uname output
$ uname -r

As i searched for existing issues, i found out all are having ethernet interface named as eth0
but as you can see i have enp3s0
, why ?, later i found that it renamed from eth0 to enp3s0 in dmesg.
[ 1.638046] r8169 0000:03:00.0 enp3s0: renamed from eth0

In dmesg log as you can see i sometimes it logs link is ready then it goes down-up-down and it continues forever.
I was planning to install kernel 5.2 as it got some update in r8169 main source 10 days at the time of asking this question, but due to failed build of https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.2/, couldn't install it.
It will be very helpful if anyone describes the reason/workaround/fix for this isuue.
enp5s0
in that answer toenp3s0
for your use case. If that helps, please leave a comment @Fabby 0:-)
