I am trying to connect my USB capture card to an Ubuntu 18.04 host.

When I'm connecting it, however, it connects and disconnects repeatedly. Syslog states it is "not an MTP device":

How do I make Ubuntu recognize it as a USB capture device?

EDIT: No, this is not a duplicate of How to make an Avermedia AverTV Volar Green HD work?. AverTV is an entirely different product, only produced by the same company. I am using an AverCapture HD GL310 card.

Possible duplicate of How to make an Avermedia AverTV Volar Green HD work? Also check Additional Drivers. The proprietary drivers might be listed there but not installed. – GabrielaGarcia Jul 11 at 17:02

No, "How to make an Avermedia AverTV Volar Green HD work?" does not seem to be a duplicate. It does not refer to MTP devices at all. – Volker Siegel Jul 14 at 1:05
  • The chipset is the same therefore the drivers/firmware required is the same. – GabrielaGarcia yesterday
