Recently, I have problems on starting Lubuntu. I get either a black screen, Frozen Login screen or spontaneous restart. I have to force shoutdown by holding down on/off button. It usually starts after 2, 3 tries. It always goes into the GRUB menu and after getting recovering journal screen. It works fine after starting, although a bit slow. The only program which doesn't work properly is iced tea. I have an old desktop with Pentium 4, 2Gb Ram

  • Looks a lot like a hardware problem: bad RAM, disk, cable, PSU, capacitors, etc. – mikewhatever Jul 7 at 20:04

Many thanks. The problems has improved after I changed the system battery which was low. – Sherif Jul 9 at 22:19
