in the NetworkManager i can have multiple configurations for the same network interface (i.e. a static address like 192.168.33.3, a static address [to configure a router in factory settings] like 192.168.1.3 and a dynamic address [via dhcp]).

as i am not a fan of the configuration file format (i strongly prefer netplan's yaml) i wanted to know if i can have multiple configurations for a single interface (using renderer: NetworkManager) to then be able to select those configurations in the NetworkManager applet.

i tried to put those 3 configurations in a single file 01-netcfg.yaml:

# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# For more information, see netplan(5).

network:
  version: 2
  renderer: NetworkManager
  ethernets:

    enp0s31f6:
      addresses: [ 192.168.33.3/24 ]
      gateway4: 192.168.33.1
      nameservers:
        addresses:
          - 192.168.33.1
        search:
          - tom

    enp0s31f6:
      dhcp4: yes

    enp0s31f6:
      addresses: [ 192.168.1.3/24 ]
      gateway4: 192.168.1.1
      nameservers:
        addresses:
          - 192.168.1.1
        search:
          - tom

as well as each into an individual file. but i will only see the first configuration (as netplan-enp0s31f6) in the NetworkManager.

is there a way to do that?

on https://netplan.io/examples i found the section "Using multiple addresses on a single interface" but that will not really help...
