Other posts here mention that it is possible to hook up "Evolution" to Google Calendar, but instead of Evolution I'm talking about the default Calendar functionality at the top center toolbar (where notifications are also placed to each particular day), whose name I couldn't find (it's not even named Calendar, as the default Calendar app only transfers its events to that unnamed Calendar toolbar).

this is how it looks like

Any help would be appreciated, either by means of helping to replace that godawful calendar toolbar with some other app that could be shown there, or to show how to connect it with Google Calendar.

I hope I wasn't too convoluted.

  • Connecting the Gnome Calendar application (which is the default calender app in Ubuntu) to your Google calendar will have your appointments appear in the Calender drop down. – vanadium Jun 4 at 7:04
