I'm on 16.04. A while ago I installed the latest system updates and no kernels since the 4.4.0-142 will boot. I have 143, 146 and 148 available but none of them boot in neither normal or recovery mode.

If i boot normally i get the following error: (Screenshot of normal boot) run-init: not found. Target filesystem doesn't have requested /sbin/init. No init found. Try passing init= bootarg

If i try to boot in recovery mode i get basically the same error. (Screenshot of recovery mode boot)

I tried booting in recovery mode in the latest working kernel (142) and running dpkg --configure -a but it did not do anything.

If anyone has any idea how i could get the latest kernel to boot it will be really helpful. Thanks in advance.
