I am completely new to Ubuntu and Linux, and still trying to get my head around the new terminologies and the command line environment.

I have a PC with 2 graphics cards (GTX 1060 6GB and GTX 650), each one of them has a monitor hooked up to it and this setup is working fine in windows. however, the best I could achieve in Ubuntu is to get the second monitor to turn on with a black screen and a cursor in the shape of an "X".

I have tried enabling Xinerama but that resulted in some werid error with the system not booting at all even after unplugging usb devices:

device descriptor read 64 error 110

please don't suggest that I hook up both monitors to the same GPU because I use dual boot and when I use windows I prefer the load of the second monitor to be handled by the second GPU.

Thanks.
