I'm tryig to install an AVR programmer, and the installation ask me for the Path of the .bash_profile; I should run this command: echo 'PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin' >> ~/.bash_profile and get this answer /bin/csh or /bin/tcsh but I'm not getting anything.

"... and get this answer /bin/csh or /bin/tcsh" why do you believe that? the command would not normally produce any output (unless it fails) – steeldriver Mar 14 at 21:11
  • The command you have types will not provide an output to the screen - the output has been redirected to append (are create) the file ~/.bash_profile with the output of your echo command. Please examine the file, pehaps with less ~./bash_profile – Charles Green Mar 15 at 14:21
