I have a new Dell XPS 15 9570: i7-8750H, 32 GB, 1 TB SSD, NVIDIA 1050Ti GDDR5.

I have used a couple of different guides to change SATA operations to 'AHCI'. I have also unchecked the 'Secure boot enabled'. I also updated drivers and BIOS and NVIDIA card.

My problem is once I select 'Install Ubuntu' and the install starts but then freezes.

I have found articles explaining to try adding nouveau.modeset=0 but I have no idea what this means. I have read Ubuntu docs on adjusting boot options but none of the f1-f6 pull up any options when I press their buttons. And if they did allow me to access the options, I would have no idea where to add the modification.

I would like to have only Ubuntu on this new laptop. Any help would be appreciated.
