I have a bash dialog menu that runs just fine after I log into my pi and looks similar to this:

Dialog Menu

I have looked high and low but can't figure out how to get this menu to come up at boot without logging in.

I have tried to start a bash script from /etc/rc.local that calls the following:

sudo sh -c 'xinit /bin/bash /usr/local/displaytest.sh $* -- :0&XDG_VTNR'

This does not work, but yet when I use the same call to start putty from boot using:

sudo sh -c 'xinit /usr/bin/putty $* -- :0&XDG_VTNR'

putty will load up just fine on boot........what am I doing wrong?
