I have a Mackie 1402-VLZ3 that I'm using for my CR81A 1/4" TRS Shure Controlled Reluctance microphone.

Here's the deal, it's sounds amazing when I jack into the mixer board using my headphones and listen to the mic, however as soon as I plug it into my computer the quality of the microphone is severely degraded.

I've already narrowed the problem down to the software on my computer because as I said, the mixer board and mic are perfect.

In my effort to correct this problem I've been digging into ALSA and PA but nothing I've done affects the quality in any significant amount.

When I adjust the input volume on the computer it goes from sounding way too quiet and clear-ish to loud and degraded heavily with noise and static.

Currently I've got my mixer board zeroed out and haven't changed the default values.

[UPDATE] I've discovered that this problem exists between the mixer board and my OS it's got something to do with my 3.5mm inputs on my rear I/O. I've never had this problem in the past and haven't got a clue as to whats causing it.

My friend also pointed out that my sound distorts when I'm scrolling on my mouse.

I'm going to guess this is just a worthless motherboard as far as audio is related.
